Why is Adoption So Hard for Us to Grasp??

I've been asking myself this question...why is adoption so hard for us to understand..why do we view adoption as 'less than'?? Maybe your reaction is no.... I don't! Maybe you're right. But maybe we have deep rooted issues and fears, that began far back in childhood. How many children face the fear that "I'm adopted". As adults, we wonder if we will be able to love adopted children as much? What is wrong with us???

I propose that we don't really understand how we have been adopted by the God of this universe, as his children, through Jesus Christ!! Take a minute and think about these scriptures.....

Galatians 4:5-7

"God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir."

Ephesians 1:5 "God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ."

Romans 8:15-17a "So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory.

Of course we don't understand the signigicance of adoption - our enemy is at work and has been for generations! Only when we understand how we are adopted,do we begin to understand how loved we are by a perfect Father!!
